What if Only Some of My Carpet has Water Damage?

"Can carpet be saved after water damage?" That's a question we get a lot!

When water damage occurs in your home, it’s possible that only some of your carpet in a room or area is affected. When carpet gets wet it’s possible to save it before irreparable damage occurs if it’s addressed immediately. A water restoration company will often pull up your carpet to try to dry it out even if the pad will need to be replaced. Typically, when water gets on carpeted floors the pad will need to be replaced even if the water does not cover the entire floor because the pad holds onto water and can become a breeding ground for mold and bacteria growth. However, the carpet itself may be saved with quick action. It’s important to call a water clean up company to pump out any standing water and use professional-grade fans to dry up the area.

Remember if you have a wet carpet, it’s likely that you also have wet baseboards and drywall. Allowing moisture to linger in these areas creates a breeding ground for mold growth. This concern is just as important to address quickly. Keep your family safe – if you have a water leak or flooded room, call a local water restoration company immediately to clean up the mess and get your home back to normal quickly!
