What is Included in Water and Fire Damage Repair?

Water and fire restoration includes both the clean up and subsequent repair work needed to get a home or business back to normal after a water or fire event has occurred. This event could be anything from a broken pipe or seasonal flood to a kitchen fire. Regardless of what caused it though, a fire and water repair company can help you handle what comes next.

Generally speaking, clean up efforts will include removing and disposing of damaged materials, tearing down anything that can’t be repaired, and then doing the contractor-type work needed to replace those items. To give a water-related example, after a basement flood, any standing water will be pumped out, ruined flooring and drywall will be removed, the space will get cleaned and dried up, and then new flooring and drywall will be installed.  A fire-related example would be, after a kitchen fire, anything burned will be removed, soot will be cleaned up, the air will be purified to get rid of the smoke smell, and then the area of the kitchen that was ruined will be rebuilt. Of course, what’s included will depend on the specifics of the damage to your home or business. In the case of a fire, if the fire department put out the fire, you will likely have water damage that needs to be addressed as well.
